The number of books a member can take, and the period for which he/ she can retain them, is as follows:

Note: The theses, reference and text for reference books and periodicals may not be issued:
Library Services
>> Members are free to seek the assistance of library staff in selecting reading material, checking of references, searching of reading material, compilation of bibliographies, procurement of documents etc.
>>Members can also recommend new books or journals for the library and to suggest improvement in library services.
Overdue Charges
>> Overdue charges at the following rates shall be levied for library books/ documents retained longer than the period of loan from all borrowers:
- Book/ Document from General Section: Rs. 1/- per day.
- Book/ Document from Reference Section/ Reference Books/ Documents: Rs. 5/- per day.
- Bound Volumes/ Loose Issues of Periodicals: Rs. 0.50 per hour.
Overdue charge may be waived out by the University Librarian/ Library In-charge at his/ her discretion under special circumstances, after appropriate documentations in the overdue charge register giving reasons/ justification for waiver.
Books and bound journals if in duplicate may be issued to any authorized library when a request is made under Inter-Library-Loan facility. If single copies of documents are available, printouts/ photocopies may be provided at cost.
Inter-Library Loan
>>Books/ Documents or photocopies thereof, which are not available in the library, can be procured on loan from other libraries, which have established Inter-Library Loan relationship with the library at cost.
>>Such books/ documents are meant to be consulted within the library, but these may be issued for a limited period at the discretion of University Librarian/ Library In-charge. Postal and other charges incurred on such transaction both ways would be payable by the reader.
Loss of Library Material
The following charges are recovered from the borrowers for the loss of any library material.
BOOKS
General Books: Replacement or the current price plus Rs. 50/- as processing charges. In the case of a book which has been lost by a member and in which case the current price of the book is also not available and the book itself has become out-of-print, the price to be collected from the member will be @ 10% increase in price per year from the date of its procurement subject to the maximum of four times of its original price. The member, however, is at liberty to replace the book within 45 days in case he could manage it.
In case of books/ documents received in gratis or free gift and whose price is not given in any of the catalogues, the University Librarian/ Library In-charge is authorized to fix reasonable price.
Textbooks, Rare and Reference Books: Rs. 200/- over and above the current price. If the book of a multi volume set is damaged or lost the member concerned shall be liable to replace the whole set or pay the cost of the entire set.
PERIODICALS
Single Issue of Periodical: Replacement within three months or the cost of the volume if the single issue is not available.
Bound Volume of a Periodical: Replacement of the volume or four times the cost of the volume. |
