Library Hours of Opening

The library will remain open on all working days from 9:30 a.m. to  5:00 p.m. or for such hours as may be decided from time to time. The circulation counter shall be closed half an hour before the closing of the library.

Admission to the Library
No person, who is not of sound mind, nor properly dressed, shall be admitted into the library. 

>> Person desirous of using the library shall enter his name and address legibly in the entrance, visitor register kept for the purpose.

>>Printed matter/ personal books, files, raincoats; umbrellas, any valuables like jewels, cash and other receptacles and such other articles as are prohibited by the library staff shall be left at the entrance at the property counter.  The library is not responsible for any claim of loss or damage to such belongings. They may take few sheets of paper or a small note book to notes from the library books/ journals.

>> The University Librarian/ Library In-charge may refuse, under special circumstances, admission into the library to any person or the use of any book without assigning any reason thereof.

Conduct within the Library
>> Silence shall be strictly observed in the library premises.

>> Spitting and smoking are strictly prohibited.

>> Mobile phones to be switched off or to be kept on silent mode in the library premises.

>> Eatables and drinks are not allowed in the library.

>> Sleeping is strictly prohibited.

>> No person shall write upon, damage or make any mark upon any book, manuscript, or map, belonging to the library.

>> Any person having objectionable conduct may be denied admission or asked to leave the library by the official on duty.

Library Membership

The following are entitled to draw books from the library on loan after they have secured their membership pass books/ reader’s cards, duly signed stamped by the University Librarian/ Library In-charge. Applications for membership duly recommended by the competent authority shall be made to the University Librarian/ Library In-charge on prescribed form as per annexure-II downloadable from the university website (www.babafariduniv.com/library/) along with the payment of Rs. 25/- (or as may be determined by the Vice-Chancellor, from time to time):
  • Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor of the university.
  • Members of the various faculties, and the teaching staff of the university/ constituent colleges of the university.
  • Students of the university/ constituent colleges actually on the rolls of the teaching departments.
  • Approved candidates for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy/ Research Scholars. Such members shall deposit a refundable security of Rs. 2000/- and Rs. 500/- as annual subscription charges.
All the employees of the university working against permanent posts. Other university employees may be enrolled as members of the library at the discretion of University Librarian/ Library In-charge.
  • Such other individual or category of members whom the Vice-Chancellor permits to be enrolled as members of the library; provided that a person enrolled under this clause shall be required to deposit a security of Rs. 2000/- (not refundable) unless otherwise exempted by the Vice-Chancellor at his discretion.
  • Any library, which has established inter-loan relationship with this library and institutions of standing approved by the Vice-Chancellor.
Note: The rule regarding submission of an application fee shall not apply to the following:  
  • Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor of the university.
  • Members of the various faculties, and the teaching staff of the university/ constituent colleges of the university.
All the employees of the university working against permanent posts. Other university employees may be enrolled as members of the library at the discretion of University Librarian/ Library In-charge.4.2       Persons other than those listed above can be enrolled as members on the recommendations of the Registrar/ Head of Departments, subject to the approval of the Vice-Chancellor/ University Librarian/ Library In-charge on payment of the following charges:
  • Retired employees of the university          Refundable Security Rs. 500/-
  • Corporate Membership for Industries/      One time membership fee Rs. 10,000/-
    Autonomous bodies
  • Casual Members                                          Membership fee Rs. 50/- per week or part thereof
  • Special Members                                         Refundable security Rs. 2000/- and annual membership fee Rs. 500/

    Borrowers’ cards given to registered members are strictly non-transferable and are to be renewed every year.

Clearance Certificate

The reader’s card and identity card are the property of the library and are to be returned. Dues, if any, paid and a clearance certificate obtained for them before terminating connections with the university library or before taking the university examinations, etc. 

If a member is unable to return the reader’s card/ identity card, the same will be presumed to have been lost and the due payment will have to be made by the reader before a clearance certificate is issued to him.

Library Security

The library security of a member will be refunded to him/her after his/ her obtaining a clearance certificate from the library.   

The security of student members shall be refundable on production of ‘No Dues Certificate’ from the University Librarian/ Library In-charge and the Head of the Department concerned.

General Rules

>> Before entering the library, the visitor register kept at the library entrance is to be legibly signed. This is required to maintain day-to-day statistics of readers visiting the library.

>> As the library is a place of individual study and research, it is necessary to maintain a quiet and dignified atmosphere inside the library. Violation of this regulation may lead to cancellation of privileges for membership of the library. Members are therefore advised to refrain from conversation or consultation among themselves or noisy or demonstrative greetings of friends inside the library premises. 

>> All personal belongings including library books issued to a member can be checked by the library staff, he/ she has been empowered to search all persons coming out of the library. Unauthorized removal of anything belonging to the library will be treated as theft and dealt accordingly.

>> After getting a book issued, the same should be deposited at the property counter if the member wants to go inside the library again.

>> Reference books, bound and loose issues of periodical, theses/ dissertations and such material as may be specified by the University Librarian/ Library In-charge are generally not to be issued out. In special circumstances, University Librarian/ Library In-charge may at his discretion permit certain books to be borrowed from the reference collection.

>> The loan of a book/ document may be renewed at the discretion of the University Librarian/ Library In-charge, if it is not in demand.

>> It is always advisable to leave the book and other reading material after use on the study table than to try to restore it to the shelves. The book or any other material placed at a wrong place is lost to readers for a considerable period.

>> The University Librarian/ Library In-charge reserves the right to recall any book from any member at any time and loan period may be shorten, if the books/ documents are on special demand.

>> No reading material can be issued to a member not in possession of his or her library card, or if he or she is drawing books for others.

>> The members caught tearing pages, stealing of books, marking or underlining, or in anyway disfiguring and mutilating books, or library property, will be suspended forthwith from using the library facilities and the university will initiate further disciplinary action against them.

>> Before leaving the library, members must satisfy themselves about physical condition of the book they have borrowed and bring to the notice of the library staff any damage, missing pages etc. Other wise they will be held responsible for any damage or mutilation noticed at the time of returning.

>> The University Librarian/ Library In-charge reserves the right to suspend the membership of any member found misbehaving, abusing the library staff or behaving in an indecent manner.
           
>> Outsiders can use library facilities on the recommendation of University Library/ Library In-charge, Chairperson University Library Committee, and Registrar/ Vice-Chancellor of the university.

>> Change of address and designation should be immediately reported at the circulation counter of the library.

>> Suggestions/ Complaints with the objective of better and effective library services are welcome from the users and may be given to the University Librarian/ Library In-charge in writing.

>> Upon any infringement of the library rules members shall forfeit the privileges of membership of the library and will lead to disciplinary action.
